Lucy McGreal, Senior Practitioner, shares advice on caring for people with dementia

Lucy McGreal is one of our Senior Practitioners who is currently working on a new project for the organisation funded by the BUPA UK Foundation.

Hearts & Minds is developing a series of workshops under the title Caring Elderflowers designed to help people caring at home for ladies and gentlemen living with dementia. Carers can be under a huge amount of emotional strain and as a result their own health and general wellbeing can suffer; they may feel isolated and struggle to cope with the changed relationship with their loved one or be able find a means of accompanying them on their journey through dementia.

Lucy was invited by the BUPA UK Foundation to write an article with advice for carers of loved ones with dementia.  Some of the techniques are used by our practitioners working as Elderflowers in hospitals and residential homes across Scotland.
