Clown S'cool delivers a dose of smiles and laughter at Edinburgh Children's Hospital

Question: What kind of doctor believes that laughter is the best medicine? Answer: A CLOWN DOCTOR!

Laughter certainly was the best medicine for these young people at Royal Hospital for Children & Young People, Edinburgh, who recently spent a joyful week at 'Clown S’cool' learning the tricks of the clown trade with our very own Clowndoctors Dr Mousse and Dr Crumble, and creating amazing costumes with Dr Flobble & making marvellous entrance music with Dr Jump – our guest clowndoctors for the week!

Dr’s Crumble and Mousse showed the young people how to fall off a chair, walk with a squeak and pretend to walk into doors along with lots of other clowning techniques to help raise a smile.

Most importantly, Edinburgh Children’s Hospital Charity’s 'Clown S’cool' gave young people with IBD, Crohn's & Colitis the chance to get together, discuss feelings of loneliness and embarrassment and have some well-deserved fun!

We were delighted to help fund this brilliant opportunity along with our friends at the PJ Foundation to provide some magic and mayhem for our “Junior Clowndoctors’.

And an extra special thank you to 'Clown S’cool' graduates Dr Elmo, Dr Shnog, Dr Bubbly, Dr Kitty, Dr Whoops, Dr Tippy Toes, Dr Dinosoar, Dr Flume and Dr Nervous! Great names guys!

Hearts & Minds love running Clowning sessions for young people whether it be a week, a day or a one-off workshop! We work with hospitals, hospices, schools for children with additional support needs and with young carers. Email us at info@heartsminds.org.uk
