In March, Hearts & Minds attended the Healthcare Clowning International Meeting (HCIM) in Geneva, Switzerland. We were proud to be one of 43 organisations from 27 countries represented.
The International meeting brings together healthcare clowning performers and organisations, healthcare professionals and researchers.
During this conference it was an opportunity to exchange, reflect and to explore the powerful role of humour and human connection in healthcare settings.
As Co-Artistic Director I had the opportunity to connect with organisations from around the world, learning about the challenges they face and sharing our own experiences.
It was inspiring to attend workshops delivered by clowns, researchers presenting up to date findings and doctors sharing the impact of healthcare clowns in their hospitals.
We have come away feeling inspired and motivated, gaining new insights and new relationships. We look forward to implementing some of the ideas and working practices we have developed with our performers over the coming year.
